So, I decided to take a Sunday drive. That's one of the things I like about living where I do. I can take a Sunday drive and see so much!
So far today I've visited Mount Hood, driven through the Hood River Valley, went to the Bonneville Fish Hatchery, and stumbled on a sailboat race. Now, I'll finish with a relaxing drive down the Historic Columbia River Highway.
The highway is an old, narrow road through moss, ferns, and fir trees. It is cut out of steep rock cliffs and winds past dozens of waterfalls.
This is the old tunnel at Oneonta Gorge.

And this is a view from the other side of the tunnel.

Next is Wahkeena Falls.

Then Horsetail Falls.

At 620 feet, Multnomah Falls is the second tallest year-round waterfall in the U.S.

Trail to Lautourell Falls

Falls at Shepperd's Dell

Unnamed creek.

Near the west end of the Historic Columbia River Highway it climbs out of the lush green woods and comes out on the top of Crown Point, home of the Vista House.

And the view is spectacular!

Thanks for coming along to see all the things you can see in just one day in Oregon!

Thanks so much for posting this to
my group
beautiful pictures... very very pretty scenery and all...
I Wasn't very impressed. Too much traffic, too many people (But your pictures are nice).
Narrow roads and lumber trucks are an unpleasant combination.
I had to take my son and a few other kids to camp in Corbett...I got to drive to the falls! I will be doing a photo essay shortly!
Here's a 10 & thank you for posting to the 'Oregon: Anything Oregon' group!
