Why Not?
When I came home late last night;
she said, "Look, I can't live with you anymore."
I replied, "Why not?"
Shaking her head, she showed me the door.
It seems she'd been unhappy,
with my kind-of single ways.
She didn't look me in the eye,
just told me not to stay.
So here I sit on the edge of the curb,
not knowing where to go.
She's at home, sleeping in our bed;
I messed up - too late, I know.
I swore I'd change, try to make it right,
as I didn't have anywhere to stay.
She knew I wasn't quite telling the truth,
and kicked me out anyway.
Early next morning, I tried going home,
she met me at the door with a bat!
I think she really means it this time,
as I don't have nine lives like a cat.
