I have seen many articles that have been hit by low drive by raters. Some I really don't think deserve to be rated that low. But I don't know the real intention of the person who gave a low rating.
I know if I had a group that rules state no adult content (to me this included foul language). Only to see a member pass content through that had adult content. I would rate them low than move on with out telling. Why wouldn't I tell them? For the mere fact we are all adults here and when you join a group. You should know what the group allows and don't allow.
Others have been rated low stating they think it is because some has a different view or opinion. If that is the case, that is down right childish in my opinion. I do know we have serious raters who rate for misspelling and such to.
So, for whatever reasons out of the hundreds or possibly millions there are. There is a way to defeat and not get the low drive bys. All you have to do is turn off your ratings. In other words, each time you create an article...don't allow ratings. You can't go back and switch it for past content. But you can for all future content.
First when you are creating an article. Look for the ratings and comments options box.

than click on the blue word to the right. That says options. This box will appear :

Than uncheck the first box that says "Allow ratings on this article"
When you complete this, members will not be able to rate your content. But view and comment.
So, if you notice certain content that seems to be hit by low raters for no reason you can tell. Than I suggest you no longer allow ratings on that type of content. The choice is really up to you.

To me, that is the frustrating part of the drive by low rater.... obviously they don't like it... and if they don't tell me why... I can not fix it... or write something they would like.... and I never will be able to if they don't start communicating.....
Have a magical day

Thanks for the birthday wishes!
Anyone who just rates 1's may just not like what you have to say and perhaps doesn't have the courage to say so.
If they don't want to hear people's comments, you're right, they should turn off the rating and comments.
I personally am like Richard, I give it a 10 when I like it, and if I don't, I probably don't make it far enough down the page to even rate it anyway.

I usually leave the ratings on. Does not matter to me. Unless it is just done for that persons amusment. Then it does irk my behind. But what can one do? Either put up with the chance of trolling. Or turn the ratings off....
Thanks for sharing this very useful information..
Have a great day~
