Katherine Heigl, Izzie Stevens on Grey's Anatomy, has publicly stated that she declined to put her name in the bidding to receive an Emmy nomination. By the way, she won Best Supporting Actress last year. So what is her reason for declining? In a recent statement from her publicist Heigl says:
"I did not feel that I was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination and in an effort to maintain the integrity of the academy organization, I withdrew my name from contention… In addition, I did not want to potentially take away an opportunity from an actress who was given such materials."
Ouch! That's sounds like a complete diss. Pretty much she's saying, "Hey, Grey's Anatomy writers…you suck!!" Is it a ploy for her to make the writers angry enough to kill her off on the show? After all, she's a movie star now and doesn't really want to do television.
Does this change your opinion of Heigl? If you thought an actress or actor was a complete jerk, would you still support her or his work?
