As I was out making my morning rounds of the gardens, I was thinking about how nicely the hosta are doing this year. Then I thought "Why not share them with Gather?"

Hostas are great. and you have some pretty ones. I had a lot where we lived before. I should have dug them up and brought them with me. I split them all the time, and I never killed a one. They are very hearty.

Risa, I HATE when they bloom! I think the blooms are ugly.

You raise a great point, Stephanie, you almost can't kill them unless they get too much sun.

Pretty. I never used to like Hostas, but then I discovered how many different sizes, shapes, and colors they come in. Now I actually have a few in my own garden!

Hosta are beautiful plants ... so many varieties. Mine are doing nicely right now. But no matter what I do, the slugs still feast on them towards the end of summer ...

Pretty! My hostas are taking over the world... or rather my yard anyway. They just keep growing bigger and bigger every year! I love how they fill in different spaces where I can't get anything else to grow.

Vikki, I would like ours to fill in our shade garden just a bit more. Probably should do some cuttings or something.

you know I wouldnt have a thing to do with hostas for years....then I put some in around a shaded porch while living in the city still....they filled in so quickly and looked so nice...
I only brought a few with me here....I will be seperating them next spring to put in shaded areas....
though the bugs do chew on them here....
mine dont look as nice....
and are blooming already....LOL

Lou, I bet cornmeal would work in keeping slugs off them. So far it seems to be working well in my veggie garden. Haven't been plagued by them in the big shade garden. Hope I won't be!

I think hostas are really pretty. My mom brought some down for me two summers ago from out of her hostas and we planted them in my flower garden. They are steadily getting bigger each year. I wish they'd just take over the place.

These look like mine..except mine are blooming now and I don't like the blooms. They look more like weeds. The purple color is pretty but they take away from the hosta.
