Daily Whine & Shine - June 12, 2008
by Marilyn Mackenzie
Whether you agree with the concept or not, everyone needs to be able to vent from time to time. That's especially true if you're one of the many who suffer from an invisible illness. We have whines and rants about pains, medical professionals and prescriptions, just to name a few. Perhaps our families listen; perhaps they don't. Even if they do, they get tired of our complaining, even if they claim to understand our constant struggles. Or if they don't get tired of our "negative energy" we think they do or will.
What's happening in your world today? Are you grumpy and grouchy about something? Are you so angry that you could spit? Tell it here. Here at the Daily Whine & Shine, it's acceptable to rant, vent, complain, stomp your feet, throw a tantrum and shout, "Oh shuckie darn!"
But don't go away. Surely you have some good news to share. Then this is the place. If you're celebrating, dancing, and yelling, "Yippee skippy!" please share. Sometimes knowing about someone else's happiness gives us a bit of hope for ourselves.
Happy Machine Day and Red Rose Day
Tomorrow is National Juggling Day and Kitchen Klutzes Of America Day and Blame Someone Else Day. It's also Sewing Machine Day
June 14 is Pop Goes The Weasel Day and Flag Day. (And it was my Dad's birthday. I should put a flag out so that he can look down from Heaven and know that I'm thinking about him.)
June 15 is Smile Power Day
June 16 is National Hollerin' Contest Day and Fresh Veggies Day
Food for thought:
God gave you a gift of 86,400 seconds today. Have you used one to say "thank you?" ~ William A. Ward
When we were children we were grateful to those who filled our stockings at Christmas time. Why are we not grateful to God for filling our stockings with legs? ~ G.K. Chesterton
The only people with whom you should try to get even are those who have helped you. ~ John E. Southard
He is a wise man who does not grieve for the things which he has not, but rejoices for those which he has. ~ Epictetus
You say grace before meals. All right. But I say grace before the concert and the opera, and grace before the play and pantomime, and grace before I open a book, and grace before sketching, painting, swimming, fencing, boxing, walking, playing, dancing and grace before I dip the pen in the ink. ~ G.K. Chesterton

Whine: I had to get out of bed and get ready to work
Shine: It was wonderful to be so comfortable for the 10 minutes after I hit the snooze button.
On the other hand, we;re all alive and the tornado passed us over.

Whine: My neck is hurting today because we have storms in the forecast.
Shine: I found another house to look at. This process is tedious, but hopefully I will be rewarded by finding the right house eventually.
Shine: Triple points ends today
That's my 'whine' for the day!
Are you the inventor of the "special days"???
Tomorrow (the 13th) is going to be so awesome! I will juggle (multitask) all the things I need to get done and then I will try to actually juggle 3 objects (I've mastered 2-object-juggling, but not 3) Then I will klutz around in my kitchen and blame the dog for lying perfectly still while I trip over her. And I will sew something on my sewing machine! AND I will eat a bbq lunch with my dad for his 80th bIrThDaY!! WOOHOOOO!!!!
Tomorrow is a great day!
I look forward to the 14th, 15th, and 16th too!! YaY!!!
What's ticking me off... let's see.... the fact that I couldn't move my legs this morning when I woke up (I can now, but still)... I have a lot to get done today before my family goes on vacation. I'm sick of how my dad pretty much controls everything. I'm sick of how my mother has to do all the work for her mother, father, husband, great aunts and uncles, everything.... but gets absolutely nothing for it. It's ridiculous. :/
shine--We'll be able to put our living room furniture back where it belongs today.
My daughter's birthday is June 16th
I joined mylot last week I think after reading one of your articles. I have .03 cents lol
I'm also thrilled to have had an essay accepted for publication by Christian Science Monitor. Money instead of points!!
I am so tired and don't feel like watching the kids.
I don't feel like cleaning, it just looks the same ten minutes later!
Shine - my husband and my doggies are sitting right beside me and the pills are kicking in.
