The air was warm, with a gentle breeze blowing every now and again. Maisy Lydon, could smell the slightest hint of Honeysuckle and Lilacs. She breathed in deeply, closing her eyes. Resting her head against the rocker, Maisy finally allowed buried memories to flood her mind, transporting her to another time and place. It's not that they weren't fond memories, just painful. Filled with regrets.
Memories rolled through her mind like and old black and white film. She couldn't resist any longer the urgency to go back just this once. Maybe this time she would be successful. This time all would be set right, the way it should have always been.
A strong wind began blowing. Maisy kept her eyes closed. There was no turning back this time. This was her last chance for eternal happiness.
Maisy's smile grew wide, as the deep lines around her mouth smoothed. She could see it, almost touch it. Then she heard it...the sound of the train. When Maisy Lydon opened her eyes, it was no longer August 14th, 2004. She was no longer on her porch in Gainesville, Georgia. She was on platform 32, at Metropolitan Station, June 5th, 1954. And with her was, Ozzie. She did it! She had one more chance....
"Maisy? Are you all right?" Ozzie placed a hand to Maisy's cheek.
Maisy smiled pulling back. "I'm-I'm just so happy to be here with you."
"I can't wait to meet your folks." Ozzie took Maisy's hand and led her to the train.
Maisy smile faded a bit. She knew what would happen. Her father would disapprove, threatening to cut her off if she married someone so beneath her. Ozzie would let her go, because he loved her and knew what her family meant to her.
"Let's not go,"
"You're just nervous?" He placed his hand to her cheek. "Everything will be fine."
Maisy knew it wouldn't be. She would be miserable. Married to a man of her father's choosing, who would abuse her. She would be bitter and angry and hate her parents to their dying day.
She couldn't live through it again. This was her second chance at love and happiness. Her only chance.
"Ozzie, let's elope!" she said with an urgency.
Ozzie was taken aback. "Maisy, I don't understand?"
"Please, Ozzie. Do you trust me?" She pleaded.
Ozzie saw a desperation in Maisy's eyes he'd never seen before.
"Of course, Maisy. But what about your parents?"
"After we're married, we'll send them a telegram!" Maisy knew this was the only way.
Ozzie and Maisy wed in a small chapel in Niagra falls. She wired a telegram to her parents. This time, she'd made the right choice. Her parents disowned her, but she had never been more happy. She was with Ozzie, and all was right with the world....
"Doctor, come quick!"
Maisy's head drooped to the side. Her hands rested in her lap, a smile fixed upon her face. She finally had her happy ending.

Wonderful picture, Reena. To me, it spoke of a long ago, romantic time.
