In May you wore Remembrance icons in honor of Memorial Day. Now join me in a patriotic celebration by waving your flag on Gather! With Flag Day around the corner and Independence Day only weeks away, Gather has created three flag icons for members to upload to their profiles.
Simply right click on any of the icons below, save it to your computer and then upload it as the main image in your Gather profile. Here's what you can choose from:

Between now and July 4th, let's see how many members will show their dedication for the red, white, and blue by uploading one of these images to their profile.
By participating, you could be selected to receive an American flag to wave at home as well. Each day Between now and July 4th Gather will select three members to receive a flag from Paralyzed Veterans of America. All you have to do is upload one of the above flag icons as the main image in your profile and comment on this article for a chance to receive one.

Now I have the song US Blues stuck in my head thanks to your title :-)
DONE!!!
If folks would open their eyes and minds they might revise their thinking on what and who they blindly follow to the degree there would NOT BE any disabled VETERANS to support ... let's get to the CAUSE rather than treating the symptoms after the fact ... IMnsHO.
He has always taught me that a symbol is the meaning YOU put into it. The american flag is very important to our family for the sacrifices of my grandparents, my father, my family as a military family, and my brother. The flag is special to me because it is a way to take all these important feelings, emotions, events, and people in my history and honor them all for the same ideals.
Such symbols when produced for the purpose of "uniting" people behind ... can be good when there is a real and valid threat to be confronted requiring the joint efforts of those united peoples ... and of course the "threat" has probably also united behind a different flag ... war and rumours of war ...
It is past time for this entire world to grow up and unite behind each other, to help each other prosper in peaceful ways, to rid ourselves of "nationalism" behind flags claimed to INclude when in fact they EXclude the greater amounts of peoples world wide ... better to rebuild the United Nations for ALL the peoples and get behind ONE flag than what has been going on of late ... IMnsHO.
Great post! I am sure many will be joining you!
Too bad we're disrespecting it by draping it over so many coffins.
As a member of the DAR my family has a long history of defending our nation, and I have the highest regard for all of our military members and their families. Thank you very much for the service to our nation.
It is a beautiful flag and it is OURS. I love to see a properly displayed flag at night, with the wind blowing....shivers every time!
Thanks for the image - I may just edit one of mine to include the red, white and blue

Happy July 1st!!
I remember as a youth, 5 , to be exact going to Walter Reed hospital and taking cookies to our baby sitter who had been hurt in the Vietnam war. It still brings tears to my eyes of what I saw there as a young child. But I stood tall and walked with my parents until we finally found Lee, a young lad who had gone off to protect our country but got hit with schrapnel as he was the lookout on a tank. He was never the same fellow after that but I had loved him dearly as a child.. he my baby sitter, like a big brother! I thank him for his sacrifice so that I can sit here and write this note!
I was also blessed with giving birth on July 4th and my oldest son is now 24. We always tried to instill him that though this was an awesome day for his birthday that the wonderful celebration that happened every year was not about him!
Thank you to all who have sacrificed your normal daily living or lives so that we have our freedom!

May God bless the USA ! I praise Him for allowing me to live in a country where people have the freedom to put down my God and "organized religion" if they so choose, but more so that I can WORSHIP the God who gave me not only this freedom, but freedom from sin !
