The flooding situation in my area is getting worse. No, not where I live but along the Iowa River. Last night at 8:30 the water started going over the spillway at the Corps of Engineers reservoir.

Now it is flowing downstream uncontrolled and there will be some areas that are flooded that have never been flooded before.
I went for a walk to the river this morning. It is a little over half a mile from my house and at 70 degrees and breezy was a pleasant walk. It is overcast and more rains are about an hour away with heavy rains coming tomorrow. I snapped a picture of the street a couple blocks east of me and the water is deeper there from the creek back up.
People in that neighborhood are preparing for more water.

When I got to the river I could tell the water was about a foot higher than it was on Monday but I don't believe the worst of it has reached the area where I took these photos. Trees branches that were out of the water are now in it.
The current is very strong.
Most of the pictures are taken where the river has gone out of it's banks and is racing through the trees.

I think I found where the blue barrels came from.
There was a father with two small children on the walking bridge when I was down there. The children wanted me to take their picture so I did. The little girl was wearing her boots, just in case, she said.

On the way home I saw a little half grown bunny wanting to eat clover but afraid to move while I was nearby. Such a normal thing on such an abnormal day.

And just so you will know. I am at the top of this street and it is a considerable drop to the bottom so I will be staying dry even is water should back up through the storm drains at the bottom like it did in 1993.

I know we haven't seen the worst of this yet and will try to keep you appraised on the flooding in my area.
