My husband and I went to see this movie in the cheap theater the other day, and I thought I would tell you good people about it.
Nim is a little girl who lives with her scientist father on a deserted island. Her father sails away to do research for a couple of days and leaves Nim alone on the island. Unfortunately, he doesn't come back when he is supposed to, and Nim is convinced that her island is being invaded by Buccaneer's. She writes to her favorite Author Alex Rover (who even though she writes adventure stories is actually afraid to step outside) asking for help. Alex is scared to death but feels she must leave her apartment and go help Nim.
This movie was just average to me. It wasn't a horrible movie, but it certainly wasn't award winning. It was nice to see once, but probably not something that I'll watch again. Jodie Foster plays the writer Alex Rover and even though she's been in many different roles, I didn't really like her in this. There were a couple of parts in the movie that I just thought were really cheesy for her.
Overall, I'd give this an average of 3 out of 5 stars.
