They say this war
Is what has to be
To make this country safe
For you and for me
But are we really safe
In this our private place
What really is it for
This travesty we call War
Shall we ask the broken mom
Her pride and her joy
Now she moves in darkness
Never again to see her boy
And what about the dad
He tries hard to be strong
But his precious little girl is gone
And he knows this war is wrong
Then we have the children
Waiting at the door
Who will tell them
Their parent will be there no more
The worst is the spouse
Who lost their life-long mate
They knew when they said good-bye
It would all be up to fate
Then there are the soldiers
Who will never be the same
Physically and mentally they are scared
With no one they can blame
They say this war
It doesn't have to be
Let us bring our troops home
And reunite our family

Ultimately, war is unwinnable.
You cannot coerce hearts and minds.
You can only win property
And that only by killing all
who oppose your force in any way
until all who are left have proven willing
to put up with anything you demand.
Then you must be vigilant against uprisings.
You must always be moving, thinking ahead
until the time when one better than you arrives
and it all starts again.

well done
I sure wish there was no war anywhere.
