So much to say about that. It isn't just hearing the words, but the visual stimulus. The shapes and colors and in childrens books often the touch. The act of being held and cuddled and getting that feeling of security. The sound of a voice that can mean happy, silly, sad, and so many things. The holding the book and turning pages that starts them in the wonder of books. You can't read or expose a child to books too young.

Inflection, emotion, security, imagination....it's never too early to start reading to a child. I started reading to mine long before they were born.

All so true. If you want to cripple your child intellectually, start when he/she is very young.

There is so much for the child to benifit, we read to our children at a early age, a great way to start the bonding process with books and language :)
