Wouldn't it be nice if are government told us all that we didnt have to pay income taxes. Sounds to good to be true! If we had the right canidate for president this could come true. All this time oil companys apparently dont pay there share. But we have to pay top buck for their product. What is your opinion on this issue?

How can anyone check it out when no one knows what the oil companies do make. When i operated a service station in the sixties, I ask the company sales manager just what it cost the company to pump, transport, refine and deliver to my station, one gallon of gasoline. He started laughing and said "The president of the United States would like to know that, do you think they are going to tell me?"
I will guarantee you that the tax is greater by far than the profit the station owner derives! I'll have to acknowledge that the tax here is minuscule compared to most European countries that use the gas tax as a general fund government revenue. Here it must be used for the transportation system, which limits it.
One thing we know for sure is that it is very profitable for the oil companies who's CEO gets millions of dollars per year and a golden parachute, with the companies still reporting more profit than the GDP of most nations!

We were over there watching a movie and they are busy building more shops. My city is closing businesses, so its clear this city is in a lot of trouble with their best businesses leaving town.
Companies are in business to make a profit. They have to give shareholders something. Should execs be making as much as they do? No, probably not. Neither should doctors. Or athletes. Or people in various other occupations and professions.
But, you know, as long as we're willing to pay the prices, these companies will keep paying their execs big bucks, and their stockholders, and making profits.
By the way, would you like to have a company - of any size - whose profits were only 8%? Just wondering. The average oil company only makes 8.5% profit. That's really not a lot.
Meanwhile, their shareholders saw a rise of 15% and their employees saw increases of about 8%. And they've hired more people than other industries.
Google's first quarter profits this year were 25%. Should we be encouraging a windfall profit tax on them?
thanks for sharing
we will NEVER see the end of income taxes, they are here to stay... right or wrong, its just the way it is
