You know the weather has take a bad turn. Days and days of rain and finally....my computer connection may hold today. So what is it doing in YOUR part of the world? Calm or are you having earthquakes, rain, torndoes? For those of you who garden, I'd like to know how to balance things out for my poor plants which actually may have too much water. Is this bad for my veggies? How is everyone else doing?
I'm counting my blessings as I feel for those who aren't so lucky and trying to contribute anything - food, bikes, clothing and whatever can help people rebuild their lives.
Mostly, though, I cringed when I saw photos of homes being washed downstream after a dam broke. With soe much human suffering and loss, a home garden seems minor.

Sad when an old tree is destroyed.
It breaks my heart when I drive down one of our side streets and you see the wood cut and stacked up on the tree lawn for people to take.
God bless everyone in the paths of destruction...

The images we see from around the country are horrible, and it really saddens me to think that these people, who are probably already in financial struggle now will be without their homes as well.
But I keep telling my daughter, they are only things. We are all still kicking, homes, items, cars, etc can be replaced. It would be a huge loss not to mentian pain in the butt but you cannot replace people. My heart goes out to people whos homes have completely washed away!
As far as your garden, when it does finally stop, replace any soil that has washed away from the base/roots and you might want to lift up any vines that are on the ground a bit. (Just to make sure that they dry out and don't rot)
I hope everyone is safe - feel sorry for those who have lost so much.
Stay safe.
My poor sister in Montana has had snow all day long!
I sure am hoping the rain passes you by today and just drops into L. Michigan.
Garden plants drown as the roots cannot get air.
Your plants can get waterlogged if there is standing water. If not the sun should help dry them out.
