Magnolia blossoms perfume the air
on a hot and sultry night;
On a veranda
in old Savannah
I see the look in your eyes;
Sweet strains of Dixie
in a moonlit Southern sky;
You pull me near,
whisper in my ear;
Breathlessly I sigh;
Our bodies sway in rhythm
as the breeze caresses our skin;
Our lips gently meet,
the taste is sweet
as we fall into our sin;
On a front porch swing
several miles away
she waits for you...
doesn't know what to do,
wondering if you're okay.
Hot night in Savannah;
Beads of sweat, sweet Dixie song;
I watch you rise,
tears rain from my eyes,
and then, my love...you're gone.
Your scent lingers with me;
I close my eyes and breathe you in;
It can all seem right
on a moonlit Southern night;
I wonder when I will see you again.
