Daily Whine & Shine - June 10, 2008
by Marilyn Mackenzie
Whether you agree with the concept or not, everyone needs to be able to vent from time to time. That's especially true if you're one of the many who suffer from an invisible illness. We have whines and rants about pains, medical professionals and prescriptions, just to name a few. Perhaps our families listen; perhaps they don't. Even if they do, they get tired of our complaining, even if they claim to understand our constant struggles. Or if they don't get tired of our "negative energy" we think they do or will.
So here we are. What's happening in your world today? Are you grumpy about something? Or so angry that you could spit? Tell it here. Here at the Daily Whine & Shine, it's acceptable to rant, vent, complain, stomp your feet, throw a tantrum and shout, "Oh shuckie darn!"
Wait! Don't go away. Do you have some good news to share? Great. This is the place for that as well. If you're celebrating, dancing, and yelling, "Yippee skippy!" please share. Sometimes knowing about someone else's happiness gives us a bit of hope for ourselves.
Happy National Yo-Yo-Day! Happy Iced Tea Day!

Food for thought:
Under democracy one party always devotes its chief energies to trying to prove that the other party is unfit to rule - and both commonly succeed, and are right. ~ H.L. Mencken, 1956
Those who are too smart to engage in politics are punished by being governed by those who are dumber. ~ Plato
Politicians are the same all over. They promise to build a bridge even where they is no river. ~ Nikita Khrushchev
George Washington is the only president who didn't blame the previous administration for his troubles. ~ Author Unknown
Mankind will never see an end of trouble until... lovers of wisdom come to hold political power, or the holders of power... become lovers of wisdom. ~ Plato
The Democrats seem to be basically nicer people, but they have demonstrated time and again that they have the management skills of celery. They're the kind of people who'd stop to help you change a flat, but would somehow manage to set your car on fire. I would be reluctant to entrust them with a Cuisinart, let alone the economy. The Republicans, on the other hand, would know how to fix your tire, but they wouldn't bother to stop because they'd want to be on time for Ugly Pants Night at the country club. ~ Dave Barry
We hang the petty thieves and appoint the great ones to public office. ~ Aesop
Whenever a man has cast a longing eye on offices, a rottenness begins in his conduct. ~ Thomas Jefferson
It is not in the nature of politics that the best men should be elected. The best men do not want to govern their fellowmen. ~ George E. MacDonald
When buying and selling are controlled by legislation, the first things to be bought and sold are legislators. ~ P.J. O'Rourke
Democracy is being allowed to vote for the candidate you dislike least. ~ Robert Byrne
Democracy: The state of affairs in which you consent to having your pocket picked, and elect the best man to do it. ~ Benjamin Lichtenberg
Bad officials are elected by good citizens who do not vote. ~ George Jean Nathan

But the weather is beautiful so far ... I can't really complain!
Got some muscle spasms in my back today so I am not as zippy as I could be. Guess I will make some iced tea!
Take care of that cough, Marilyn.
I'm not feeling well today but it could be worse. At least I got some time off from work. I want to try for disability but I don't have a clue of how to go about it. And you can be assured that my work place isn't going to help me. All she told me was that I'd have to find a doctor who'd say I can't work.
Anyway, I am grateful for this day. I am grateful for God's gift of unlimited, unconditional love.
thanks
Here's a 10 for you!
Happy triple points week :)
Also, my rant and rave is that it's triple points week at gather, tomorrow is double ticket day at club live, and on top of that, I haven't even started packing for vacation thursday.
so thats my wine for the day lol
June 13 is Blame Someone Else Day. (its all greg's fault! lol)
June 14 is Pop Goes The Weasel Day (or Pop goes me day)
June 16 is National Hollerin' Contest Day (I just might win! lol)
Hi Marilyn,
Thanks sweetie. Tomarrow is National Hug Holiday!! Cool.
Great as always.
You get some rest and feel better soon.
I have a lot to whine about. But I am trying to look on the bright side. I have had too much happen in too short of a time. I am sick and overloaded and not functioning well. I am reluctant to drive or make decisions. I am just doing the best I can.
Thanks for being my friend Marilyn
