Well it is Bzz Agent time again and this time it is The Logitech 'Harmony One'

 

I recently received this remote control device  to try out and below is my review

The Bottom Line There are many "universal remotes" that can than replace some of the functions of your remote control collection, but the Logitech Harmony One Universal Remote Control can just about do it all, and is not any larger than most single component remotes.

 

 

The Harmony One features an easy-to-use design that includes both a color touchscreen and on-board buttons. In addition, this remote has access to a extensive online database of remote control codes, which can be updated via USB connection to a PC with internet access. If you are frustrated with your remote collection, the Logitech Harmony One might be the answer

I thought this sounded really cool until I saw the price. :-) It still sounds neat, but way out of my reach. I'll deal with having a few remotes instead.

One question: if my 3-year old gets a hold of it, will it take him longer than 60 seconds to turn it into scrap? That's my one and only criteria for just about anything these days!

I love the idea of being able to update it and program it using a USB, and that it has rechargable batteries (with a touch screen, I'm sure it drains the battery quickly, and I couldn't afford putting double As in that thing all the time-- I go through enough batteries with my camera!) However, I'm not sure I'd want to pay that much for it. If this sort of remote became the standard and I was able to get it for $50.00, I'd consider it. Also, like Rachel said, I'd love to know how sturdy this is... I live with children, (both of the seven year old and the forty-seven year old variety) and I want to make sure this wouldn't break easily. It's probably one of those things I'd want to be able to hold and use at a friend's house before buying it, just so I could get a feel for how durable it is, and how easy it is to use. Other than that, it sounds like a really interesting device, and I'd love to do some more research on it.
