My garden is gone =(

I went out to water the garden. We have a fence around it. Not a gate but part of the fence opens and closes, hooking back into place. Well eveidently when my son weedeated around the fence and opening. He failed to close the fence up.

We have two families of Canadian geese. As well as tons of turtles. So needless to say they had a dinner on us tonight. =( grrrrr~~ Sixteen tomato plants, only one is standing. Six pepper plants I think two of them are okay. Ten cucumber plants that were either eaten or stepped on.

Just so depressing to see that when I went out there. Money and time wasted. =( Oh well I'll just have to replant. And start all over again. I think I'll wait until this heatwave is over with first....

What a bummer. I'm so sorry you lost most of the garden. Mine is doing ok for now. I have a few more to plant.

Karen~ Oh my it is.. I could have cried~ I was so sure the bad storms we had a few days ago, would have done something. But they made it through them. They just didnt stand a chance against the critters.. lol

Awww, I hate it when things like that happen. I just got my gardens planted this past week so they are still ok, but I have learned to spread the gardens out. That way if anything happens I dont lose all the plants. Right now I have some in the garden beds, some in different beds on the pation and container gardens.

that is terrible...I didn't start one this year
Only thing I planted was strawberries. So far they are growing pretty good. No strawberrie syet.

aw, that is terrible. I had a bunch of seedlings started and have them outside ready to plant. The horrible storms and torrential rains we've had since Thursday have really taken a toll on them. I don't know if they will make it or not. We'll see.

rained here the last couple nights, and rained hard. haven't checked the garden tonight to see if the rain beat the plants into the ground... Sorry to hear he cridders got your garden. fence won't keep the geese out, they will just fly over the fence.

Darn, I'm sorry, I know the work it takes and the joy of seeing your plants reap the awards of whatever they produce. I have a small garden and worry about bugs and other critters too. I don't have a fence nor time and money for one. Hope you can get some more plants in soon and this time nothing happens.

Oh, I do know the feeling of finding a devastated garden. We haven't planted our vegetables yet, and am wondering will we actually plant this year now. Hope you have better luck with the new planting.

OH no, I'm sorry to hear that. I'm waiting for some critters to come eat my garden. It's the first time I've had a real veggie garden and I just know something's going to eat it all up. Oh wait something did already destroy my pepper plant that was just starting to grow. I was so sad to see that.

The lack of rain is causing the plants to start dying....all the vegetables will have to be harvested in the next week before they are all dead.

Aww...that's a real bummer. I'm sorry to hear about your garden. We don't have one. Tried it one year, but it didn't turn out too well and haven't done it since.

Donna~ I wasnt going to have a garden this year. We were just going to plant some asparagus crowns. But after having to pay $2.89 for one yellow pepper at Foodlion. It didnt take me long to get the beast of a rottertiller out.. lol
"the pepper was $2.89 a lb. And wouldnt you know the dang thing weighed a pound!" =)

Sandy~ mmm strawberries. My husband wanted to plant some. I think next year on that. I remember them being alot of work. When my parents had a bed of them.

Larry~ For some reason the fence works on these guys.. Now last I hadnt closed the fence behind me. And a family of geese marched right into the garden with me. I had a heck of a time getting them out. I was afraid they'd flock me!~ I have been flocked by a rooster and a goose before. And it is not fun.. lol

Thanks Sammie~ We use to have a couple gardens. Or atleast one huge one. Every year they've gotten smaller and smaller.. lol
One of those geese and some of the turtles need to be made to pay you back for all those plants they damaged.
Instead of a nice salad......how does roast goose and turtle soup sound to you.

My Mom plants a garden...I decided not to grow one this year. Just a couple tomato plants and some flowers..I am just feeling a little down this year. I need to spring clean my house still!

My flowers are doing great. My veggies are not so good. I think something is eating the leaves.

Don't let this discourage you. I had several garden mishaps before having a successful flower garden. You now know what to be careful of.
