I was one of 12 people chosen to receive an advanced copy of the book "Summer Blowout' by Claire Cook and do a review. I was worried that I might not have time to finish the book and do the review by the June 16th deadline, because I don't always have as much time as I would like to read, but I figured I'd give it a shot. I didn't have to worry.. not only is the book not a very long book, it's a very fun and easy read. The perfect summer beach book. I finished it in 3 days.
The story centers around the recently divorced, Bella Shaughnessy and her large "pseudo-Italian Irish" family. She and her family - her brother and sister, and her two half-sisters from her father, Lucky Larry Shaughnessy's, 2nd and 3rd marriages, all work together at her father's hair salons, and she does makeup artist gigs on the side. If being recently divorced, and possibly losing her relationship with her stepchildren to boot, isn't bad enough, among the things she has to deal with are her half-sister shacking up with her exhusband, her nephew's upcoming wedding in Atlanta, how to keep the real owners of the terrier mix dog she ..umm..liberates.. from one of her clients and falls in love with from trying to take the dog back (simple ..give her a makeover and change her name to Cannoli LOL), and then there's the developers who are after her father's waterfront flagship salon. And to top it all off, a chance meeting with a man who gives her a great idea for a fabulous new business.. finally, something of her own.. but Sean Ryan is also handsome, successful, kinda charming .. just what she doesn't need. She's sworn off men, she can't get involved with him.. can she? Well it doesn't matter anyway, because he's not interested in becoming her "rebound man".. or is he? You'll just have to read it and find out...LOL
