Seven years plus of drought. Drought disaster designations for most of the state. Low reservoirs, closed marinas. GF&P unable to release trout into the streams and lakes due to low water levels. Ranchers losing cattle.
We wished for rain. We prayed for rain.
May 2, 2008 we were hit with a terrible blizzard. Sustained winds of 60 MPH. Snow fall totals of 4 feet to 7 feet. Some towns were without power for weeks afterward.
We now have unending rains. Towns flooded. People evacuated. Many who have lost their homes. Fields of corn, soy and sunflowers underwater.
Once again we will be counted as a disaster area, only this time it will be for flooding.
Be careful what you wish for.

I have been considering rearranging my boxes of records for better ballast in case my little trailer becomes a boat.
Seriously though, that has to suck. I hope things get better for you.
Stay safe.....be careful.
Thanks, Tracey.
It's a hard life out there.
We're at the confluence of two rivers, so floods are familiar events here... at least in theory we're prepared for them.
Thanks, Sandy.
What a mess for you, and how were you to know? You did need the rain over your way. I hope it all dries out and some of the humidity goes away. You're right- be careful what you wish for and never count on Mother Nature. She's got her own agenda.
Welcome back (again, you've been so missed!)
Marilyn
Thanks, Val
We got hit again last night.
Good luck.
Or maybe as it is an election year they may really help.
