I dont know how many people are caught up with the fires from Nc in tyrell county and Hyde but they think a lighting bolt started this,it has burned over 10,000 acres of the Pocosin Wildlife Refuge has spread from a lighting fire in Hyde County to Washington, and parts of Tyrell counties.It has reached my home here on the Outer-Banks Hatteras Island 3 1/2 hours from the actual fires,,
I have done nothing but look at dense smoke all morning and breath that crap in,Its too hot at work to turn the A/C off so it comes right through the,.The weather is 92 with a heat index of 100 ITS HOT,this is crazy and miserable heck of a day!!!!!
And its still burning.......and they say its expected to continue for a few weeks.I feel bad for the people who has to be forced out of their homes
The blaze is now the second-largest active wildfire in the nation, according to statistics updated Friday by the National Interagency Fire Center in Boise, Idaho.
"We expect it may last for a couple weeks and may actually become the largest fire in North Carolina history," said Karen Miranda Gleason, the service's national fire spokeswoman.
