Those of you who read my article earlier this week about Stephanie Moore (A Light Gone ...) will be pleased to learn that there is Moore to the story.Stephanie was supporting a young child in Kenya to whom she contributed a monthly amount. Her daughter, Nyla Rodgers, was interested in this and visited the child and his village in Kenya before her mother's illness.
She wanted to do something to help also. While she thought about that, her mother was diagnosed with cancer and died shortly thereafter.
To honor her mother Nyla set up the MamaHope foundation, raised $30,000, went to Kenya with the funds and some volunteers and built a Health Clinic for the town in memory of her mother — all within a year.
Now, she is campaigning to raise $50,000 for the construction of irrigation projects for the 50,000 people that the Health Clinic serves.
The whole story is at their website, MamaHope Foundation, along with some video of Nyla and photographs of Stephanie. Nyla reminds me so much of her mother.
I write this not to ask you to donate to Nyla and Stephanie's cause (which would certainly be appreciated) but to share an example of some of the wonderful things young people in our country are doing. In the video you will see very young children who, after hearing about this town, on their own, came up with ideas to raise money to contribute.
I found this story quite powerful and am so pleased that Nyla, in her own fashion, is on her way to becoming a wonderful person, just like her mother.

Blessed weekend,
Karen
May God bless her for the good that she's doing.
No good deed goes un-rewarded.
Thanks for posting this John
Normally I answer everyone's comments but this is a case where I just wanted to share the information. A lesson here for each of us in our own way.

Stephanie was one of those people who was so "alive" it's doubly difficult to imagine her gone.
Thanks for your comments.
Thank you all.
