With Father's Day just around the corner I thought I would share some of my wonderful experiences at my grandparents house. My Grandpa is a great man and though I know at times as a child I probably drove him insane he never once told me. My Grandma would but my Grandpa was a patient man that would go to bed overly tired and wore out from keeping track of me all day.
Many times I would spend the night with my cousin and boy were we some giggly girls when we got together. We giggled from the time we got up till way past out bedtime when we passed out. Grandpa never said a thing about it. Grandma on the other hand would tell us to stop giggling so much!!
Every morning my Grandpa would get up and go fishing, there wasn't a day my Grandpa didn't go fishing when we were there. My cousin and I would hear my Grandpa come in the back door and head to the bathroom so we could quickly jump out of the bed and run into the kitchen. My Grandpa made the best waffles that side of Texas. We would quickly get out the plates, forks, syrup, waffle mix, butter and peanut butter, put it all on the table and run back into bed. (Of course we know Grandpa had to have heard us and had to have stayed in the bathroom longer than he needed to) and then we would hear him come out of the bathroom and into the kitchen. Shyly we would walk out of the bedroom acting like we were still half asleep with a goofy grin on our faces and say, "Wow, Grandpa, you got everything ready for breakfast for us. How did you know we wanted waffles?"
Grandpa never once complained about having to make waffles or how our eyes were much bigger than our stomachs and how we would have to end up feeding the birds our extra waffles (no syrup on them of course cause Grandpa would always tell us not to make it up until we were done with the first one.) Most of the time we couldn't even finish all of the first one and he would take us outside to feed the birds and then we would go in and watch from the kitchen window all the birds eating our breakfast.
My Grandpa is a kind and patient man and though I know at times he probably wanted to ring our bratty little necks he never said a word. He always would do it with a smile and be patient with 2 giglgly little girls.
Grandpa I love you more than you know!!

My other Grandfather died before I was born. I have seen photos of him and he was a handsome man though.
God bless you and all your family...
Paying it forward!
You are lucky to have your grandfather. Both of my grandfathers passed when I was just a child. My Dad's father when I was only 6 and my Mom's dad when I was 12.
My Dad was a wonderful man and died when I was 18. I am so sorry that my children and grandchildren never had the chance to meet him.
Hold on to those memories for many years to come!!
