Two weeks ago I publish an article about a Mystery Plant in our backyard. We like many thought at first it was Asparagus when we spotted these last year.
When I published the first article it was a little over a foot tall. NOW, it is over 7' tall. The fence is 5' and it's more than 2' over the top of the fence. Two days ago it was peeking over the top by about 6".

This is the first photo I published. Notice where the top of the plant is in comparison to the knots in the fence. If you click on the pictures at the top you can see a larger picture of all of these.
Here's a picture from tonight. I have marked the knots in this picture. It's at least 2' above the top of the fence now.

Sorry about the picture on the right. The wind was blowing terribly and it was hard to get a good pic. I will try again when it's not as windy.
This is a close up of the leaves and tiny tendons that reach out and grab hold of whatever they can. The other picture is of the stems and 'berries' that form on them. They get a little larger and turn a deep purple almost black. Nothing seems to eat them, so we didn't either. lol They get about as big around as a nickle to a quarter. Right now they are smaller than dime size. They look like a large black berry when they are done.

The leaves get larger as the plant grows, too. Forms more of a heartshape.
Honestly, we have never seen asparagus gone to seed. I have never seen it other than a foot long at best. If this is asparagus so be it. It's really unique like this and since both of us hate asparagus this is how it will grow from now on. :) I'm just surprise with all the rabbits we have nothing touches it.
If you have any ideas, let me know please.

Necee, this is the one that our granddaugther thinks the fairies plant because it's whimsical and the leaves are heart-shaped. Bet she didn't even think of Jack and the Beanstalk.
I will Jenna.
Jeni, it actually looks like asparagus in the beginning. We thought it was and told a friend he could have it because we don't like it. I took a few into him last year and the first thing he said was "That's NOT asparagus." Then went onto tell me not to eat it until I knew what it was. I'm not eating it. And for sure I'm not smoking it either. Altho' I may bag it and sell it. lol
Dee, it sure is growing like a weed. lol It's incredible. Like I said above, there are several others but hubby keeps them mowed. We'll let them grow along the fence but not in the middle of the yard, we did that last year to see what it would do. It doesn't get much bigger around so it's a little hard to mow around.
All I can say is "Feed me Seymour"! (Little Shop Of Horror) lol
Could be a weed, but maybe not native if the birds and the critters leave it alone.
I just found the strangest weed in a flower pot, I meant to pull it out and saw that it has sharp big fat thorns, I left it, until I remember to wear my goves one day.
so anyways I know about them danged storms, we are the same way... lots of flooding around here too.
Hope your weekend goes well hon.
