Playing around one day, I put my last name in the search engine to see what came up. This wonderful, emotionally moving picture came up on the first page. I'm so sorry there was no info to credit the family and honor the one who took the picture. But, of course, it demanded a poem. A repost from earlier.
Another picture of time :)
Gone
Year by year as the summers pass
God changes the clothes of leaves and grass
Puts on Fall colors ... then strips them bare
While He's preparing spring clothes to wear
And in the houses and homes of men
They're packing away their clothes again
They bring forth warm, forgotten things
As the trees turn brown and the cold wind sings

Life is like that throughout our time
The seasons change as we leave behind
The shell of the thing we used to be
And accept new garments gracefully
My Summer and Fall are long since gone
My Winter stripping has now been done
And this old garment He's packed away
Till it's resurrected one Spring day
Glome 2004

Glome, this verse really made me sit back and think...it's an interesting way to look at the changes that occur in ourselves with the passing time.
This article spells it out for us. Lovely!
And live each day, as tho' were last,
Forgetting future, and the past,
So make your mark upon the earth
And justify your "this time" birth.
This single minute of life declare!
I am here; but then, was there!
Lovely, I'm glad you shared this with us.

These lines speak to me strongly. So simple, yet direct as they point out the many lifetime changes.
Poems are meant to be enjoyed, and I truly enjoyed this one.
This is FEATURED in Artistic Minds
This one really caught my attention, and surely, it speaks to my soul.
Blessings ~

"Glome, I wish I could help. We had that issue with mom, too. I used beach towels and my karate belts to lift her up."
I don't think you belong in the Goldilocks category :)
&

Somewhere in this great land of Gather I happened on one of my own comments where I encouraged someone to come to 'Poetic Therapy' :):) They're probably still trying to find that group :)
Thank you for coming by and for the encouragment.
By the way ... (I just peeked back at your site :) I had understood from your article that it was a seasonal thing for you :)
Your city seems so ancient to us here. Just the thought of it carries the fragrance of the ages. Your roots go down deep. Our roots simply cross the oceans .
Thank you for the recipe ... also for coming by and enjoying the poem.
It was nice that you came by & offered encouragment. I'll be back to learn a little more about you.
There needs to be more hours in the day.
Thank you for your encouragmen.

Looking back, so much to see
Looking forward, where will we find
that moving thread, peacing mind?
I have not really thought about the weather changing burial. It is an interesting idea. New Orleans definitely has to plan ahead on it.
This is a song of universal application, like an ethereal ocean liner somewhat out to sea, yet calling us yet to board and stroll a philosophical/spiritual promenade deck. Ports of call for the mind, and tides of verse to hold everlasting image within the currents and tidal waves of the human heart.
Beautiful work, Glome, reminiscent of the Roger McGuinn/ R. Levy song entitled "My Life is Just A Season," sung by the Byrds on their album "Untitled" from 1970. You grant permanent, thoughtful reflection to the most delicate of the transitional. And you do so without a single Rickenbacker guitar or set of drums!
I know melencholy is as close as I can get ... but that doesn't include the excitement & hope that are also involved. Also, there is a faithfulness about death. It whispers 'Don't worry. I'll be there when you need me.' Hmmm ... sounds like poem material doesn't it :):)
Thanks for coming by.
I have to go to your site to see what your icon actually is. A planet? A spaceship?
You are a colorful character. Thank you for coming by ... I will drop by to get a little better feel of the situation:)
Whatever it is, it is beatiful; but we will have to admit not quite as exciting as a spaceship. If it was a spaceship no telling what you would look like. but I guess you'll do :)
Thank you for coming by.
Kidding :) Thanks for all the fun ... and the encouragment. I can't imagine a better talent for a poetry writer than being able to turn every creation into a song with a guitar.
I'm going to get in my ethereal ocean liner & chug over to your place with a few more poems :)
Thanks for your compliment and encouragement.
It was nice of you to visit and comment.
So everyone keep your eyes open if you go trapesing through any old graveyards ... let me know.
Thanks for coming by. I'm kind of honored considering what's going on with you right now. Maybe you won't even have time to read my response :):)
Thanks for coming by & rocking me.
I was so scared of dying I slept with my head under the covers till I was an adult. It felt like God couldn't see me as well. It really wasn't funny. I was miserable.
In fact...I can't believe I'm telling this, but I graduated a year early. Got married as soon as I graduated and got pregnant right away. I had 4 babies in 4 yrs. When I was 21 1/2 I was thinking a lot about the fact that if my children died now, why they were little, they would all go to Heaven. If they grew up they would probably be just like me and go to hell. It didn't seem fair that we had a choice to send them to heaven or let them grow up and . . .
I was never tempted to do anything about it ... but I was very aware of it all the time. I really wasn't doing anything that bad. I just knew I couldn't live up to the rules the church I was supposed to be attending had set for me.
So anyway ... I do know what you mean about fear of dying.
PS. Everything changed when I was 22 yrs old. I have never had a day of fear since.
This is really well done Glome ~ and well received from what I can see here!
Blessings ~ and you know that there is much more of your works being FEATURED! So many to choose from . . .

And I love your spirit that loves and serves your friends. Thanks for coming by.
Love it
Proof of my demise & why I'm only half here part of the time :)
I lived out the words, and this is what it meant to me
It showed me the wonderful works of our Savior
And how He played out His Hand so Gracefully
Actually, you talk a lot like my other pink tulip :) so maybe . . .
Thank you so much for you comments. They're very encouraging.
Thank you for coming by and complimenting my icon. I vicariously enjoy her skinniness.
