We have opted for a Staycation for two years in a row now. I didn't know there was a name for it until this year when I saw it on the internet. The name is new to me, but the concept is not. This year my husband took two weeks off of work back in May and we enjoyed spending time together as a family in and around our area. Last year and this year we played Minature Golf at a local amusement place.
We rode the go-karts and played skii-ball inside the arcade. One day we went to the zoo.
On another day we went to the Chattanooga Nature Center.
We really enjoyed visiting the Tennessee Aquarium!
We dined out at Red Lobster, Applebees, IHOP, Proni's, and a few other local places like a local Fish-n-Chips place. We spent an afternoon at the mall shopping. Another afternoon was spent shopping at Walmart and several other local shops in our area.
We rented movies and stayed home.
I baked for my family and did some scrapbooking.

We had a playdate with some other families we know at a local place here called Buddy Bear's
Playhouse which is an indoor area full of inflatables. I hope you enjoyed a few of the old and new photos from our family Staycation.

I'm looking forward to my Staycation this year also ... but am trying to go back to Italy in 2009!
We had so many crazy adventures...like the time a tornado almost lifted our RV off the ground outside of Houston, and the time we carried an injured Loggerhead Sea Turtle in the back of our car 27 miles up the beach to the turtle lab at Padre Island! We traveled from Virginia to Arizona, spending as much as 5 months in one location depending on what we felt our intuition was telling us.
It was an amazing opportunity to re-weave our connections to each other, drop out of what society expected of us, and solidify our family. Our story can be found at www.berrytrip.us, and a short version of the tale was just published in Jack Canfield's new Law of Attraction book!
My kids have said they will not only tell this story to their own children, but want to take their own someday families on a journey like ours. Makes my heart happy.
