Another member was asking how to stay cool in this heat. I left a comment. But than giot to thinking that there is so much more things that can be done to stay or get cool. Granted you won't feel like you are standing in a freezer. But it is better than sweating to death or having a heat stroke. So, I decided to make a list on staying cool.
Here is the list :
1. Take a quick shower to cool off. Or at least keep your hair wet. That helps more than what people realize.
2. Get outside and in the shade if possible.
3. If there is a breeze, open all your windows. Have fans that direct the breeze to go through yoru house.
4. Do not use the oven. Start cooking for the stove top, microwave and crock pots.
5. Keep your blinds or curtains closed as much as possible. When you let light in, it heats your house up quicker.
6. If you can, go swimming. Play in the waterhose or small swimming pool for kids...or even you to soak your feet in.
7. Let kids suck on popcicles, ice cicles, frozen yogurts (Go gurts work great for frozen yogurts)
8. For little ones that have sippy cups...fill cups half way. Than freeze. When frozen. Fill the rest of the way.....no need for ice cubes.
9. Dress as cool as possible. Wear sun dresses, tank tops and shorts. Stay away from jeans and leather. Choose thinner clothes.
10. Wear sandals or flipflops. Instead of tennis shoes and socks.
11. Wear a hat. It helps keep the sun off your head. Thus helping to keep your body a little cooler. (And see you thought woman wore those big hats in the garden for fashion. Lol.)
12. Wear your hair short. Or at least pull it back in a pont tail or braid. But try to get it up off your back.
13. Drink lots of cool drink. Espically water. Try and stay away from milk. As it upsets some peopel stomach in the summer time.
14. Try doing yard work when it starts cooling off if possible. Like mowing the lawn when it starts getting dust. Or early in the morning before the sun heats everything up.
15. Try not to do alot of excess work and moving around. The more you move. The more you heat up.
