It's Friday, so it's time for some of my thoughts! Lucky you!
How cool is it that the Triple Points are back this week!? I'll try to keep this short so that you can get back to earning those rewards!!
I got to see Sex and the City with my sister on Sunday finally. It was a riot! It really wrapped the series up nicely. After the movie, Katie and I went to the Chinese Buffet. I think I got a hold of something bad, because I got so sick a little while later. I don't think I'll be eating Chinese food for a while.
We've had some wicked weather this week. Terrible lightning, and some heavy rain, but we stayed mostly on the edges of the storms. Adams and Pike counties in IL got hit pretty hard. It even caused a train derailment not too far from my sister and brother-in-law's house. My brother-in-law got some pictures of the train derailment, but he hasn't posted them yet. They've been pretty busy.
Work's been going fairly well. It's so nice to have a boss that respects me.
I received my copy of Laurell K. Hamilton's Blood Noir on Tuesday. I haven't read it yet. I had finished the Star Wars New Jedi Order #1 - Vector Prime the day before, and started #2 - Dark Tide I: Onslaught. I'll probably start the LKH book after I'm finished with NJO #2.
I didn't get into the Star Wars books really until I had heard the Legacy of the Force series was going to start. StarWars.com had a contest to give Jacen Solo (Princess Leia's son and Darth Vader's grandson) his Sith Lord name. Darth Something.... well the winning name was Darth Caedus. The second or third book in the series is written by Karen Traviss. It had a lot to do with Boba Fett and the Mandalorians. That turned me onto her series Star Wars: Republic Commando. Her books have really made me really love the clones, the Fetts, the Mandolorian culture. I can't wait until the next installment, Order 66.
Where was I going with this? Oh yeah. The NJO series. Like I said, I haven't really been into expanded universe part of Star Wars for too long now. So going backwards in the timeline from the LotF series to the NJO era, it's kind of sad to see a teenage Jacen and Jaina Solo, knowing what is going to happen to them later on. And knowing what happens to Anakin Solo. And to Mara Jade Skywalker. But it's fun to see what made them the characters they are later in LotF. Did that make any sense?
Hillary Clinton wasn't able to secure the number of delegates needed to become the nominee for president. I like Senator Clinton. But I did not like that speech she gave Tuesday night. It was a time to be gracious and to bring the Democrats together to focus on regaining the White House. And that is not what she did. It was ungracious and selfish. But on the other hand, it must be so frustrating and so devasting to be so close to your dream, and watch it slip through your fingers. And not be able to do a damn thing about it.
What a difference between the speeches from Senator McCain and Senator Obama on Tuesday! Senator McCain's speech was soft spoken, slow, and not, in my opinion, very passionate. Senator Obama's speech on the other hand, wow! He's such a great speaker. All three are much better speakers than G.W. Bush! At least they can read a teleprompter without to much stumbling.
I don't care how you vote. Just vote. Women haven't even had the right to vote for 100 years yet! It is our duty as Americans, as people, to vote.
Thanks for reading, and now get back to earning those Triple Points!
