Yes, that's what the title says. A lighthouse has been missing since 1925 and no one seemed to know how or why it was thought to be destroyed. It had been in Wellfleet Harbor in Mass. before that time, but mysteriously disappeared. My theory.....it ran away from home.
Which may not be too far from the truth. It was recently discovered by lighthouse researches that the cast-iron tower had been dismantled and reassembled in California. Researchers found documentation that the Coast Guard moved the lighthouse from Wellfleet Harbor to Yerba Buena, CA and later to its current location in Point Montara, CA. It is still in use today as a navigational aid and a hostel.
How could something this large be dismantled and moved without documentation??

A couple of lighthouse historians published a full length article in "Lighthouse Digest" about it. They think it was moved by rail, and they're hoping to track down pictures of it being transported.
