June 4, 2008 - GRANNY G'S GOOD NEWS
A new lunch counter, the Holy Grill Cafe, has opened up in Inner Springs. The Holy Grill's specialty is locally-grown organic food, according to owner/chef Rich Portobello and his wife, Karen. Local greens gardener and president of the "Nature Fun-Atics Garden Club, Karen Portobello has attended many "slow foods" meetings and writes for "Slow Foods USA" journal. The Portobello children will be making appearances demonstrating various talents on occasion, for the general entertainment of Holy Grill patrons. They hope to earn coins as well. This week only, they are offering a puppet show with puppets made entirely of vegetables. The show is titled, "Carefree Carrot And The Giant Rabbit." My goodness, that reminds this columnist of her old "Mr. Potato-Head" days!
The Portobellos sent over a carrot-wheat-nut loaf to the News food reviewer (that's me, Granny C.) yesterday afternoon, and I'm telling you, I'll be going back for more. My dog likes it too. Stop by for the grand opening of the Portobello family's Holy Grill Cafe, just down the street from the athletic field and across from Saint Miraculous Church. I'd say they've got a pretty decent location, what with hungry grade-school athletes and fans, and also ravenous church-goers. Best wishes to the Holy Grill! Their Grand Opening is this coming Sunday, 12 noon.

If I'm not being too rude though, could I touch on a tiny pet peeve of mine? The organization is called Slow Food USA, not "foods" - no plural. Can't explain why this common mistake bugs me but it does.
But really though I love all you have to say here, very cool and congrats!
Great promotion!
