You say I am the apple of your eye,

I am aware of Penicillium expansum,
as our love turns earthy, musty.

*Penicillium expansum- Blue mold that can occur on fruit such as apples, and has an earthy, musty smell. The mold invades the fruit at a puncture, wounded or bruised site, that can be caused by a tree limb rubbing against the fruit, or during handling at harvest. The molded, decayed part can be removed, leaving the healthy fruit flesh.
