Ever have one of those days? There you are, just getting used to the fact that your son or daughter, in the full throes of puberty, is out of school and home for the entire summer.
Things like this always make me turn to chocolate therapy, which offers short term relief for me. THere I was, gorging happily on a box of chocolates to take my mind off the fact that the laundry room was brimming over with unwashed clothing, my bird feeder was more of a chipmunk feeder than one designed to attract birds and my son's music was so loud the entire house was shaking....when I suddenly realized that it was more than my son - and his music - rocking the hosue.
While I was busy savoring my chocolates and trying to keep pictures from falling off our shaking walls, a tornado had arrived! When one of those comes to town, it can put everything into perspective again.
In our case, that meant we got to keep our house (whew), unlike some other poor souls and we are very, very grateful about that. We did lose a major part of two trees and our electricity as well. So.....I'm scrambling to catch up and, as always, I have deadlines. So if I have not responded to anyone's articles or breaking news, I'll try to find out and do that today. I'll be going through my mail, too. Just be patient, please, because those tornadoes sure do stir up plenty of trouble.
It was particularly eerie the next day, driving through town and seeing the damage - even in areas that didn't get hit full force by the storm. Our local stores were still without electricity and restaurants were closed. We'd been at Blockbuster when the storm hit and all the lights went off. I felt my way out of the store and I think I felt some inappropriate parts of at least one person's anatomy (if that person happens to see this article, I am truly sorry...it was definitely as much of a surprise to me as it was to you).
So that is the latest here (waving)

gotta watch that groping
Here is the funny part: I thought it was a stuffed animal of some sort and was relieved because I thought I was near a display case. Wrong, wrong wrong....which is typical.
I'm glad you and your family and of course your house are safe.
We have one of those tornado alarm radios that is supposed to go off if or when you have a tornado in your area. Believe me, if that thing goes off....you hear it. It did not go off so I mistakenly assumed we were okay. Plus, they seem to have set the tornado sirens off very, very late.
Look on the bright side. You got a free feel in. ;o)
That almost makes it all worth it. Or maybe that's just me....
Lainie - In this case, it is just you. If I'd gotten a friendlier response, it might have been worth it.

Darkness, groping?......likely story:)
That lightning storm sure called for more chocolate therapy, I suggest you add a glass of wine for fortitude:)
I am so glad that neither you nor your family were harmed. Yes, the fact that you got to keep your home is good but the family is even more important. We were under a tornado warning a few days ago. It is scary just thinking about it.
Again, I am so glad you are safe.
I would freak out if the person next to me was speaking Chinese - or I'd get very hungry.
Your writing has a cracker jack quality to it. There is what you expect and then a mystery prize. In this case the story of unintentional groping. I really wanna know what kind of stuffed animal you thought it was. Sorry, but it is funny.
BTW your current icon is very nice, but I too miss the 'coon.
Glad you're safe, and that grope was probably the best thing that happened to that person that day!. I've been through a tornado, and I know they're no fun at all.
I'm glad your safe. I don't think anyone is going to stress out because you're not returning comments. Just take care!
Jean- thanks for the sympathy about the trees .We are still dragging branches to the woods.
Lynn- I'm seen a tornado and never want to see one again
Donna (both Donna) Thanks for the good thoughts and I hope the person appreciated the grope although there was no instant response from any bodily parts (nothing perked up...if you catch my drift..but then, I am not exactly sure WHAT I was feeling so maybe nothing should have perked up anyway).
Lance- Being compared to Cracker Jack and its mystery prizes is one of the best things I've heard about my writing. I like that analogy very much!
Sharon - Lol, didn't freak out about the Chinese but I did leaf through the language dictionary to make sure he wasn't saying "Happy massage, please" or something like that...
Sue - Yes, chocolate therapy works. It is, however, a quick fix. Too much of it results in depression caused by excess "poundage". So a little balance has to be achieved. I have yet to achieve that. Also, some researchers say chocolate has something in it that makes people feel happy. I'm guessing that something is plenty of fat, chocolate and sugar. :)
Electricity was off and on yesterday. I'll get on when I can. Sorry...
I guess you must always watch out for other peoples personal bubbles.Ha Ha
Tornados can be scary. Several years ago when I was a kid a tornado put a tree through my neighbors house, right into the room of a friend of mine. SHe had just walked out of her bedroom seconds before too...
