Here is a picture of the Island taken from a boat while on the lake. It shows a little of the area that surrounds it - keep in mind that this was taken in May and most of the trees are not in bloom. During June, July and August, the trees are much fuller. I love the birch trees as well as the pines.

We do have a couple of neighbors that are both on Mainland Canadian land. Judy has a great little place and she is kind enough to let us use her phone for emergencies. She is 64 and lives up there all by herself and loves every minute of it - I'm not sure how she does it - but she does. It's alot of work to live up there by yourself! Although I do have to say there is a tight knit lake community, there is always someone to help you if you need it - the people are so nice to one another. Here is a picture of the Porter's new cabin which is totally self sufficient and very "green".

The dogs love to ride on the boat and often can be found in the drivers seat being captain or checking out the fish finder - letting us know if there are fish to be found LOL. Here are a couple of pictures of our sweet babies, Abby and Casey. Casey and Abby also love to swim in the water - even when it is only 43 degrees - crazy dogs!!!

My Uncle Larry made this really cool table and chairs out of some trees that were on the Island. He always has some really great ideas and actually made the living room table that you might have seen in the earlier pictures as well. He's an excellent craftsman.

My favorite sound on the lake is that of the "common loon". They have a very unusual call. It is very relaxing and peaceful to hear. You might remember hearing it in the movie 'On Golden Pond'. I collect anything and everything loon! I just love these birds. They have a very artistic pattern on their bodies that only God could have made and are so very beautiful. They can swim 100 yards under water at one time. They carry their babies on their back. They are very cool birds.

Here are some of the beautiful sunsets and sunrises that we have had on the Island. I have had some of these and others framed for prosperity. They have held many wonderful memories.

and my favorite one...

Hope you enjoyed these pictures as well as the first ones I posted. I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!

I really miss my northern lakes some days.
I love Texas and the lack of ice and snow, but I really miss my northern lakes in the heart of the summer!
