We've been invited to a graduation party this weekend and I have no clue what to gift to get the graduate. Does anyone have a good gift ideas for a girl who's graduating high school?
It has to be inexpensive, but not look inexpensive.
Although buying something would be your first choice, chances are this girl needs a lot of things for her upcoming semester at college. I suggest a gift certficiate to Bed, Bath and Beyond. Even if the girl will be living on campus, things get very expensive. She has to outfit her dorm room with all the right things!
You could also consider getting her a gift card to her school book store. It will assist her in buying books or college gear.
I'd go with cash or a giftcard. You don't even have to shlep to the actual store for the giftcard, but can pick it up at CVS or the supermarket. Bed, Bath & Beyond is a great choice. And there's always clothing stores like GAP and Old Navy, or electronics stores like Best Buy and Circuit City, to choose from.
or a Gas Card! it's very difficult to figure out exactly what is the best gift unless the student tells you. If she's going to college, she'll need any of those things above... and even if she's not, she will no doubt still need a gas card. A lot of gas stations offer gift cards that you can put cash on and use for gas.
or you might ask her - my step son just graduated and I asked him after telling him my budget - he got what he wanted/and needed ~great ideas above as well ~j
To be honest a gift card, even if it's only for $10 would be most welcome. An inexpensive gift that just gets tossed aside later just doesn't seem worth it to me. Or you could make up a college basket with various items from the dollar store in it for her dorm? Things like a memo board for her door, some soaps, shampoos, etc., pens & pencils, even a roll of quarters for her laundry.
If she's going off to college in the Fall, I'd get something for her dorm room. If not, then teens can always use cash. Opening gifts is so much more fun though. So, maybe something for summer fun in the sun.
A gift card is a great gift - like an American Express one that she can use at any store OR how about a nice piece of costume jewelry??? Or an i-tunes card?
If she is going away to college you could get her some dorm essentials. A toaster oven might be nice and you can find in-expensive ones, or perhaps a microwave. You should probably check with her mom to see what is and is not allowed in the dorms, or if microwaves are already provided. You could also go in with someone else and get a mini fridge if one is not provided by the dorm.
itunes giftcards, a nice scrapbooking kit, a bath and body works kit, money. Does she have any hobbies? You could take her to get nails done or a hair cut- that is fun too.

I give family $100 and I give friends $50. For my neice I made a scrap book and gave her money she loved it. It was not overly pricey and it had such precious memories she was thrilled to see all the family keepsake photos I had of her when she was little.
I always people love personalized gifts, and i don't mean like engraved cup or something like that. Gifts that reflect who they are or what they like, for example a gift hamper , with all their favourite things such as chocolate, shower gel or even makeup........Go nuts, he he good luck

If she is going to college - one of the most useful gifts I received at that time was a laundry bag with a shoulder strap.
