With the cost of living going up, we decided to try our hand at a garden this year. Last year I planted a tomato plant and a cucumber plant in large flower pots. Since it worked out so well last year, we decided to expand this year, but we are still keeping it small. Here is where we started.

Once we decided how big we wanted it, then Trevor started digging up the grass.

Once this was completed, we both had a seat and started ripping up the grass that he had loosened.

After we had all of the grass up, we edged the plot and put in boards to held edge the garden.

The clean slate! I also dumped in a bag of garden soil with nutrients and turned it into the loose soil.

Rajah helping out Daddy! She's an inddor only kitty and this was a rare treat for her to get to go outside. All the kitties were sitting intently in the breezeway watching us outside the door. She's the only one of the 4 that we can trust not to take off running. She thoroughly enjoyed herself!

The finished product!

I planted Sugar Snap Peas, Grape Tomatoes, Better Boy Tomatoes, yellow Summer Squash and Cucumbers. There's still a little room left over, so I may look for green beans or onions if I can find some. Maybe even another cucumber plant.
