Age is such weird thing. Because in a way it defines who we are, how we behave, or how we should behave. It does'nt always reflect how we look, sometime we look younger, sometime we look older, and never just exactly how old. Age is like an enigma. We like it to a secret, and we smile when people tell that they think we look a certain age, and that less than we really are.
Today I went to a girlfriends 40th birthday, and the first thing she did, was pointing out all those who were older than her self. Even adding a year on a couple of us. Making me 42, which I'm not... I'm 41. I think it helped her to not feel old. However people judging my age are usually of by five year, which would make me 36.
Age is a weird thing, because you're expected to certain things at certain age, and I have never done any of those thing. I don't have kids, I did'nt go to university until I was 27, I never got married, I never bought a house, settle down. Instead I travel as much as I can for as long as I can, and I do it alone, and that is apparrantly also a strange thing. And now being over 40 it seems like I should be slowing down, according to the age, my age. But is 40 the same now as it was when my parents turned 40, I dont think so?
Age is a weird thing, because today I sat down with 15 other 40 odd year-olds, and even though we different, we are also very much alike, we have similar reference points, same kind off upbringing, different, but the same.
I see age as something exterior, as to something to live by, I don't want to be a slave to my age and behave my age, as long as I am being true to me. My girlfriend just turned forty, and I still see her as that girl I use to dance with to Abba or giggle with over some guy walking by. She can't be forty.
I think that 40 is the new 30!

And Mariana, I think you're rigth about the health issue, and I plan to die young in spirit, and I will rock the old folk home, when I go there... I hope! ;O) In some odd 50 year or so!!!
I am 51 years old, and I've never grown up! I still feel like a sixteen year old inside! I have friends older and younger than I am. I feel that age isn't so much a factor as what your interests are and what you have in common. I seem to get along with people of many ages!
Oh, by the way...you have it wrong. 50 is the new 30!!! (LOL)
