Writing For The INNER SPRINGS NEWS

We're still taking reporters and columnists for The Inner Springs News, which is co-edited by Carolion and Rosa Seeya. Here are some guidelines for aspiring reporters:

1. Think: Fiction - Character - SMALL TOWN HUMOR. Perhaps it would help to think "Gather Home Companion - News From Inner Springs"

2. The characters in the reports, announcements, news stories, police reports, editorials, letters-to-editor, obituaries, and ads should be people we'd love to hear about again and again. Their stories will show us something about the character of Inner Springs as a whole. What school sport does the whole town turn out for? What do the religious groups serve at their potlucks? Who's the town black sheep or saint? What are the kids putting on for the school play? Who's running for office? What kind of help is needed or offered in the classifieds?
This is so rich. Obituaries.......Sermon titles.........The group that's experimenting with some new technology or other idea, and those who think it's bosh......

3. Humor, humor + sorrow, everyday life with its ups and downs, but something we can identify with and maybe even learn from, and perhaps help us laugh at ourselves a little, too------
And don't forget - Fiction: Beginning, Middle, End (or cliff-hanger, with promise of continuing reportage).
