I was a bit nervous since I am afraid of heights, but knowing it was safe made me want to try. There are 6 levels of difficulty so we all tried only the first two. I made it to the top of the first wall without any "help" (where they hold you at that level while you rest and then attempt to go further up). I tried the second which was much harder than the first...which a bunch of "rests" I was able to make it to the top. I tried the first one again one last time before our time ended.
The key is to keep close to the wall and let your legs do as much of the climb as possible. We all used our arms too much and at a certain point you just cannot hold on any longer! Desi, Mom and Dad both made it to the top of one and attempted 2 as well. Jason made it to the top of both.
Hope and Owen tried as well. Hope did really well, getting to the half way point of the 3 story wall. Check out my brave 7 year old!
We are members of REI and with that comes free rock wall climbing at the Denver flagship store which is only a few miles from where we live. I'm thinking we need to take the kids rock climbing there this summer!
So thanks Mom and Dad for a wonderful gift! We really enjoyed our time with you and trying something difficult and new was an exciting challenge.
