I have great sentiments with this one. This was my first carving project. I had never carved anything before this. I made this during the second year of my Bachelorette degree program (BFA) (1996-97) in Chandigarh, India. I used chisel, mallet (wooden hammer) and wood filing tools for this, no power tools at all. You can still see some chisel marks on it.
We were not very good financially at that time. My mom sold her jewelry to buy this wood for me. I gave this one back to her after carving. She still has this with her in India.
It is always difficult for me to show a sculpture in a 2D picture. I think it is very important to go around a sculpture to enjoy it as a whole. I was not fortunate enough to make a video to show this sculpture from all side when I made it. I tried to depict it through several pictures by shooting them from different angles.
