Look for books that reflect something your toddler is thinking about or experiencing, such as learning to share or dealing with separation.Reinforce your toddler's first words. Choose longer stories that prominently feature those items, or other favorite things like airplanes or babies, and you'll have a toddler who sits still just a little longer.
Expand your questions. Ask, "Why does the penguin baby cuddle up close to its daddy?" "When do you need to wear mittens?"
Read together at mealtimes—you have a captive audience!
Your reading time may never end if you stay on one page to answer all the "Why?" What's that?" or "What happened?" questions your toddler asks. Three questions per page is a fair limit.

Daycare also has themes for the month and I have try to find books on that subject too for us to read at home. Also kids have favorite TV shows nowdays and those shows have books too. This should help get them away from the TV for a while if it's still about their favorite characters.
I work in a library and I'm really glad my son loves books so much.
I read after lunch and before bed. My husband read to them after dinner.
Fostering the love of reading is so important to develop early in life.
My wife and I actually taught our children to read with comprehensiona and fluency at the ages of two and one. What an incredibly joyful experience this was for our family.

My toddler is still not quite two and doesn't like to sit still much still. I read to her often and occasionally I can keep her attention to make it through 1/2 a book
Maddie turns two next week. She's known her alphabet since she was 18 months old. We've been working on phonics for the past two months and plan to start reading comprehension soon.
