"Crystal clear" repeats in my mind,
Your lenses, crystal clear--
Twin orbs of blue, polished by tears
Of your lovely making
To tease my heart to plead for you
To spend eternity
With me, who wants to discover
Everything in their depths,
To treasure all beauty I find
With my love--crystal clear.

1: to cause to pass directly from the solid to the vapor state and condense back to solid form
2[French sublimer, from Latin sublimare] a (1): to elevate or exalt especially in dignity or honor (2): to render finer (as in purity or excellence) b: to convert (something inferior) into something of higher worth
Sublime is one of my favorite words. I don't use it much as there isn't much I consider sublime in my daily life... your poem is a welcome opportunity. I consider this piece sublime.
I often look up the official definitions of my favorite words. I looked up "sublime" after reading your poem this morning. I especially like the reference to vapor... it has an ethereal feel to it don't you think?
You know what? I almost left off the 2nd part of the definition...(2 b.) It describes the taking of something inferior, and transforming it to something of "higher worth."
I thought...
"inferior, Jims poem is not inferior, maybe I should leave that out."
Then I thought again... (I know you can't wait)
The words themselves are just words after all. They are inferior in and of themselves, but when a poet such as yourself puts them together in an expression of thought, or love, they transcend the ordinary and become very valuable indeed...
They become sublime.
Have a great day
