The house next door had been empty for months. We knew it was for sale and were praying for good neighbors who like kids! Thankfully our prayers were answered!
The couple that moved in are super! They are laid back and close to our age. They don't have kids yet, but bought a 3 bedroom house with kids in mind. They do have a dog though.
A BIG DOG.

A BIG DOG.

His name is Vishnu and our kids were enthralled with knowing he was moving in next door! He had not been around kids so it took a few weeks for him to get comfortable around our noisy and busy family. Emma (above) is Vishnu's favorite...(I think she has no fear at all of him) and she just throws her arms around him for big dog hugs.

Now the kids are used to him and he's used to them. They sorta follow each other around and keep an eye on each other.

Vishnu loves to chew and play catch and can be quite playful. He comes over to me for a good back scratch and will lean on me which I take as a loving gesture ;)
This is the best scenario for our family. We've wanted a dog, but they can be expensive and I'm not up for training one...not at all! Plus we have a cat we adore and is so low key that he doesn't add to the chaos in the house.
So, we get to enjoy a very nice dog and then send him home. Is that what it's like to be a grandparent?

Congratulations! This article has been featured at "Animal Photography, Video's & Essay's."
Our next door nieghbors (a young couple) got a little doggie. She brings him over a few times a week and lets my daughter walk him around our back yard on his leash. She has so much fun with it! The little doggie loves the attention he gets from my kids too!
