While visiting the Atlanta Botanical Gardens today, I took the time to seek out all the pieces in the Sculpture in Motion exhibit that's currently being displayed at the gardens. I photographed quite a number of them to share with you.
From the exhibit brochure: Amid lavishly blooming flowers and trees a collection of extraordinary sculptures comes to life. Sixteen artists capture the energy of wind, water, sound, sun, magnetics and touch in more than twenty-five works of fine art. The dynamic sculptures move and shift, forming endless compositions in perfect harmony with the beautiful gardens. This exhibition is the most extensive survey of outdoor kenetic art ever held and includes some of the most prominent kenetic sculptures working today.

I'm pretty sure the one shown in the above two photos is called Mikoshi. It's hard to remember where I was when I snapped all these photos.

This one was pretty neat in that all those little pieces flipped in the wind.

This is Terra Incognita I believe. The balls move based on sound. You were instructed to sing or clap your hands and watch.

These were pieces of glass and they made the most beautiful sound as I toured the Orchid Center. This was called Masdevallia Extravaganza.

This one spiraled in the breeze.

I was more focused on the Atlanta skyline here.

Figure 8 on Open Rectangle.

I think this was Undulations. I would have done a better job notating what eacxh was, but I didn't decide to do a photo essay until I got home and saw all the photos I had of the exhibit.

Split Disk in Rectangular Frame.

Some of these artworks were really facinating to watch. Hope you enjoyed looking at some of the pieces in the exhibit.

Splendid job, Marianne - thank you for taking me along. I may be back for another look. We may visit there some day since we have a friend that lives outside of Atlanta. I was there on business many years ago and I liked the city then.

We went to a similar park near Myrtle Beach last summer. What a treat to go and have so many different things to see. http://www.brookgreen.org/
Thanks so much for posting this to
my group
From the photos, they look amazing. I bet they're extraordinary to see "in person". Fantastic photo essay.
And what a beaut day it was for you.
Blessings,

And congratulations on your feature! Keep up the good work!
I LOVE garden sculptures and kinetic ones are always a thrilling sight for me. I'd love to have the Terra Incognita! If I went visiting the exhibits and IFI had a more nefarious mind, I'd find a way to stick the whole thing in my purse and walk away with it.
I'm very aware that the Creator said He made us in His image ... and the ability to create is certainly one of the greatest gifts.
