The first stage was a plain short thunderstorm. After the thunderstorm we found beauty in a rainbow display.

There actually later was a second rainbow out making for a double rainbow. I didn't get photos of it due to the rain and it being really light. I was already risking the camera taking these shots, LOL.

No matter how I backed up I was unable to get the entire rainbow in one shot. It was massive.
Not long after this stage came the eerie weather. These clouds were seen the day before, but nothing came of it. They paint the entire sky and everything below it in an eerie peachy-gray tone.

This is a section of the sky that's a bit more normal... but it still has that eerie cloud covering.

This shot is one of the eeriest ones. You can see the normal sky hovering below the eerie clouds.

A closer look at the clouds.

A farm under what look like very threatening clouds.

A bit of a closer view of the farm.

The clouds were like ones I've only seen a couple other times. They were massive. While there's a sense of wonder it's also followed by dread. Gideon said they were beautiful. I called them unnatural.

This area was where the worst of the clouds appeared to be.

The next stage was fiery clouds. It looked like the sky was on fire.

Gideon called this stage gorgeous. I still called it unnatural.
One of the neighbors said that the wind had changed directions three times and that the last time he saw these clouds there was a tornado.
The birds were calling out like crazy and flying for what I believe was safer ground.

This is the last stage before nightfall. It looked even worse out yet.

We were under a tornado watch until 2am last night, thankfully nothing - not even a thunderstorm came here. We were lucky... nature was not quite right last night... and these photos show that.

Those pictures near dark are the scariest to me!! Looks like the Mother Ship is landing on top of you.
Thanks for braving the weather and letting us see these cool pictures!
I, however was wondering if it was time to evacuate yet or not since we live in a mobile home.
I know there were some tornados in the northern minneapolis area that touched down yesterday.

The birds screaming always lets us know the intensity of a storm. Once they are out of sight and you do not hear them at all, take cover!
I enjoyed these shots Jen.
