My Son Cut His Hair! (Photo Essay)

Yesterday was the big day.  My 16 year old son decided to get his hair cut for the first time in 2 years.  Let me say that he had the prettiest long hair that would  just fall in soft waves without doing anything to it other than washing it.  No conditioners, no gel, no mousse.  He had the kind of hair I have always wanted.  Here's a picture of him with his friends before the big event. 

In the salon we looked at pictures of different styles.  He was soo nervous while we waited!

Looks here to be having second thoughts....

Finally...the point of no return. The stylist cuts off the length.  He is donating his hair to Locks of Love, which is a wonderful organization.

A moment of panic as he hears us all laughing.  After she cut off the length, he has a wedge cut.

The end result.  Now he's all ready to go and apply for a summer job!

I know he must feel so much better with it short...and I like it.  But I liked it long too.  Now he's trying to decide whether to keep or get rid of his moustache.  He grew it when he had the long hair because he was afraid people would think he was a girl...lol  Decisions...decisions...

He looks good both ways. With the longer hair...and that fuzz on his lip...he looked older than 16. Now, he has an appearance more in ,line with his age.

I do that cutting thing every now and then and I always regret it. He looks good with short hair.

Locks of Love is a fantastic organization. My 13 year old boy has made 3 donations of 10+ inches - he's growing it out for donation #4.

Beautiful boy! Very handsome with long hair and with short. Mustache? . . . It's a toss up. I think with the short hair, he should shave it off - go completely with the 'clean cut' look for the summer job hunting.

I was glad when my son cut his hair. He grew it long when he was in 7th and 8th grade. Finally he cut it off when he started 9th grade. He let it go long again in high school but by 11th grade he pretty much kept it short.

The thing about the mustache is that your son can shave it off and then if he wishes, he can grow it back fairly quick, not like the hair.

My friend also donated her hair to locks of love. Your son is very handsome and I'm sure he will be more comfortable this summer with the shorter hair!

Awww, loved that pretty hair!

But it will be easier for him to get a job with the hair short as their are still a few bigots in this world. ;(

Ross donated his a couple of years ago .... it's long enough again, but the organization here doesn't want gray hair apparently ....and he's got a fair bit of gray now

your son looked very nice with it long ....I agree though.. he does look younger with it cut short

I recently donated my hair to Locks of Love I was worried until it was over. He does have the nicest hair! I'm soooo jealous. It does look nice short though.

Oh look at that loong goregous hair now gone....He looks good with long hair. At least he kept up with it.

BHut than I am partial to men with long hair.......if they look good that way.

But on the other hand...he is one of the guys that can pulllong or short hair off anf still look fine.

I like his hair either way. With the short hair I would shave off the mustache. He does look older with the longer hair. I think he is handsome . What a fun look for summer.

I liked the long hair too. Even at my dvanced age I decided to grow my hair long but met so much public ridicue I had it cut. But the short hair for your son is good too and will help him get a job.

This is wonderful, Cheryl. Both of my boys had ponytails at one time or another. And each of my girls have contributed locks to locks of love. It's a wonderful thing to do.

I haven´t cut my hair in 2 years (since before it all fell out) so I can completely relate to how he must have felt. I must say, it doesn´t make me want to cut my hair, even though the end result was your son looking even more handsome than ever.

My granddaughter donated 16.5 inches to locks of love. What a great organization and great young people who do this sometimes several times. Please say thank you to your son for my family. He looks cool both ways.
