My daughter Rozi has a roommate named Brian. He's a very sweet guy. His aunt is Iris Johansen, who has written at least 30 books and a multiple New York Times best-selling author. He's been helping her build her house (he's a carpenter,) and he told me a few weeks ago that if I and my ex-daughter-in-law, Gabi, wanted any books signed, he could get her to sign them for us. Gabi was really excited and was going to send a book.
Today, my daughter brought over two copies of Ms. Johansen's book, Pandora's Daughter, which she had signed and sent to Gabi and me. In mine, she wrote, "Rhetta, Best always. Good luck with your writing!"
This was such a generous gesture on her part, when she's not ever even met us and only knows of us through Brian. I know it's not an expensive gift or anything, but it was very thoughtful and I am touched by it.
It's just lovely that she took the time to do this.
And she's an excellent writer, too!
