For all the years and all the deaths now, the sacrifices of American military men and women in Iraq and Afghanistan can seem still out of sight and far away.
But for colleagues and comrades in arms, those sacrifices are as close as a man's last breath and a woman's last word.
Memorial Day honors sacrifice across many generations. And with two grinding conflicts underway and plenty of sacrifice out there, the memory of the fallen is quite fresh and hits close to home.
