This is the view from my backyard.
This is heaven to me..... Lush forest, just full of life.
A few times a week I throw bread, fruits and vegetables in the woods..
One, to get rid of it because it is just a bit too ripe for us
but, also to feed the wildlife.
Today, I brought my camera with me.
I climbed Michael and Amanda's old wooden swing set fort and just sat there.
Quiet and still.....knowing that at any moment the action would start.
Sure enough, a squirrel made his way over to the bread and apples.

He seemed very pleased with my selection.. lol
Next the birds came.. They liked the bread too.

Then I saw a little head pop out of a hole on the side of a hill.
It was a groundhog. He looked around making sure the coast was clear.

Then another slowly came out
.
Then four little babies. They were so cute
.
And.. they didn't even know that I was there.

There are all kinds of animals that inhabit this area of the woods.
There are deer, fox, etc...
I could watch them for hours.
I am a Bank Manager and in my work... I hardly ever get to sit still.
Things can get pretty hectic.
But, this week I am on vacation....
It's funny.... I didn't go away to some exotic island.
I did things around the house, things that I can never seem to get to.
Today was special though... Today I was still....
I was able to witness nature
This, to me, is living....
Ps. This would be Poison Ivy

Last week, I witnessed nature a little too closely.
What can I say... sometimes.. I get carried away.

It was beautiful today.
The poison ivy is getting better.. it did look a lot worse. :)
The itching is not as bad today... hopefully it disappears soon.
Thank you :)
You have a beautiful forest behind your house! We also have one but not as close. Ours is about 200 feet behind our house. We get deer, bears, groundhogs, wild turkeys, guinea hens, squirrels and all kinds of birds. Love seeing that.
That's so funny that you named him. Charlie is actually my dog's name.
Yes, the poison ivy was pretty itchy.. It's not as bad now.. thank goodness.
You see bears? Yikes.. I think that would scare me.
You sound like a nature lover too. :)
I do feel very fortunate to have this in my backyard. It's like treasure, if you take the time to sit and enjoy it.
I agree.. it is the best way to get R&R.
You too are a nature lover.. :)
Sammie, I bet the pine trees smell so good. I love to watch fireflies. :)
Cheryl, Thank you. Yes, it's great that the simple things make us happy.
It makes life less complicated. :)
Chris, the poison ivy is not fun at all. It's starting to go away.. thank goodness.
Sherrie, Thank you for the comment and for featuring my article. :)
Lynn, Thank you so much. They are fun to watch.
These little groundhogs are cuties..
Barbara, Thank you. :)
Hmmm.. I guess that explains the snake and apple. :)
You are so lucky not to be affected by poison ivy.
Reminds me of the good ole days.. when I wasn't either. :(
lol
Geeezzz.. if you had been ... I can't imagine the bad case that you would have had. Just the thought makes me itchy.. :)
You know that I'm stubborn.. lol
I was thinking yesterday, as I scratched.. How can I go back in the woods and watch the deer? Without getting more poison ivy... Hmmm....
Was thinking, maybe, just get totally covered by clothes and then burn them after my exploration.. lol
Don't worry, I didn't do it. :)
Thank you Victoria :)
