According to Ryan Seacrest, the vote totals beat the AI record by 23 million votes ..96 million votes total and he won by a 56% to 44% margin...a difference of 12 million...12 M-I-L-L-I-O-N votes! now we know why his numbers were all busy last night! I guess people were really serious about who they wanted to win. Everyone knew it was gonna be close and wanted to get their votes in to make sure their fav won. It wasn't so close as everyone thought!
It was a 2 hour show and a lot happened, and I don't have time to do detailed play by plays of everything, so I'm just gonna do the highlights..
It was so great to see the top 12 back on the stage performing together. I would really love to go to see them when they're on tour, I bet that's gonna be a hell of a show. The Davids came out and sang and they sounded really great together.. they complement each other really well.. maybe Archie needs to give up the ballads and join up with David C to do some rock and roll.. LOL They both sounded awesome! singing "Hero" by Nickleback.. I love them!
They did a segment with Mike Myers as the "Love Guru"..hyping his new movie.. he cracks me up..that was too funny when he held up the little guy.. "I'd like to thank the Academy". I love stupid movies.. so I'll probably go see that one.
Syesha came out and sang with Seal, David Castro sang Hallelujah..it was nice to see him and hear him again.. he's still purty!!!, Ryan handed the David's each the keys to a brand new free Ford Escape Hybrid....not too shabby! Then the ladies all came out and did a Donna Summer medley .. It was so neat getting to see them all .. especially Carly and Amanda .. Donna Summer has a new single?? I love her!! Gotta give it to the girl..she's gonna be 60 this year! ..the woman can still sing!
Carly and Michael Johns teamed up on a duet of "The Letter"
The top 6 guys then came out and did Bryan Adams medley.. then Bryan Adams came out and sang. Then.. David Cook took the stage with ZZ TOPP!! to sing "Sharp Dressed Man".. that freakin rocked!! .They sounded soooo good and he was dancing . that was hot.
Graham Nash and Brooke White did a great rendition of "Teach Your Children"..
Then OMG.. David Cook in just a shirt and his undies came on doing a "Risky Business" impression in a Guitar Hero commercial...YOWZA! LOL at this point I had to potty and when I came back there was some boy band singing.. had no idea who it was until Ryan said it was the Jonas Brothers.. but I missed their performance. Later on, David A came out and did his version of the same commercial.. it was significantly less hot.. unless, maybe, you're a 15 year old girl. lol . Now, if only they could have had Michael Johns and Jason do a version too..that would have been yummy!
David Archuletta came out and performed with One Republic.. I'm sure it was wonderful but I couldn't hear it cuz, at that point, I was busy bandaging my foot where I was bleeding all over my socks. When I went to the bathroom I went to the garage too to get me an ice pop.. I love those Fla-Vor-Ice things.. and I somehow walked into something metal and sliced it open without even realizing.. until I noticed I was bleeding to death.. soo..anyway..
Jordin Sparks came out wearing a gold sack.. I'm not big on gold clothing as a rule. This ain't the 80's, people! couldn't hear her singing, I was in the bathroom rinsing the copious blood from my foot that was keeping the Band-Aid from sticking.. ... I'm sure she was was great. I
did catch Carrie Underwood's performance .. i sure hope she was wearing something under that short skirt she was wearing or the people in the front row mighta got a "special show".. lol She sang "Last Name".. never heard that song before..but it sounded suspiciously similar to "Before He Cheats" to me.
The top 12 came out again and did a George Michael medley.. the ladies did great.. but the guys did "Father Figure' .. and I loved it! that was good!! They all sang "Freedom' and it was really great too. Then George Michael came out..he looks waaaaay different.. wow,. I wouldn't have recognized him if they didn't say who it was. He still sounds good though.. different than when he was younger, but still good. . I can't believe it's been 17 years since his last US tour.. has it been that long?? Holy h*ll, I feel old now.
The judges gave their final thoughts and, OMG .. Simon apologized to David C.. he said they may have been a little off in their assessments of last night..they sure were..He actually said the other day on Jay Leno that he thought David Cook should win..so maybe my conspiracy theories from last night were unfounded..maybe they weren't trying to sabotage David C. .well.. it didn't work anyway because..DRUM ROLL ...DAVID COOK WON!!!! By 12 million votes ..
he started tearing up and was overwhelmd.. he was all choked up and I got a little misty along with him..just a little. I am so happy for him. I just hope he gets to do what he wants and doesn't get screwed by having to deal with the whole AI thing.. He was very sweet ..his mom came up and his brother and hugged him..I don't know where anyone sees cocky in him.
To close the show, he sang "Time of My Life". the winning song...as the rest of the Top 12 looked on.. he is already a rock star.. I don't care what anyone says. I'm sure we'll be hearing a lot from him in the near future.. and we'll definitely be hearing from David A as well. .
So, that ends another season of American Idol.. and "Marishka Hargitay" to you all :O)

I agree that guitar hero commercial with Cook was hot, lol! I FF through the one with teen boy toy, ha ha. See I actually waited 40 minutes to begin watching so the DVR could get a head start on me. I didn't want to watch all those commercials.
I actually liked Donna Summer's new song. It was catchy. Isn't she in her 60s now?
I'll be buying David Cooks new CD when it's released. I can repay the favor in email shortly after if you want, lol.
That's one way to do it.. I don't have a DVR at the moment.. I miss it.. but I wouldnt have wanted to wait the 40 minutes .. I would have just FF'd through them as I watched.
I like it too.. she'll be 60 at the end of this year.
Definitely .. send it on! lol
