TIME TO NEGOTIATE?
Although it appears that the world is truly going down the drain there are signs that maybe we are in for an unexpectedly major surprise. Note what is happening in the Middle East. Just today there is an agreement in Lebanon between Hizbollah, and the Lebanese government to form a unity government. If the agreement lasts it will represent a significant turn of events just at the point when it appeared that all out war was once again just on the horizon. This means that the United States and Iran are actively cooperating despite the rhetoric quite to the contrary.
If this isn't noteworthy enough there is word that Syria and Israel are in serious peace talks with the blessings of the United States. Perhaps the President will indeed get what he most wants before he leaves the office of the Presidency which is to have something substantial for his legacy. If he was to pull this off he would become an instant candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize.
Peace is waged instead of war when those who fight get exhausted on multiple levels of experience.
One implication of this trend if it continues is that Obama becomes the clear cut President of choice. Hard nosed diplomacy becomes the chief weapon we will use rather than the threat of dropping tons of ordinance and the likes.
We will need all the collective wisdom, sound judgment, fresh ideas, to fashion a workable template for peace and security - one which is at one and the same time visionary and implementable. The GOP is bankrupt on multiple levels of experience. It is truly a time for change and change does appear to be the wave of the present.

Barack Obama will change the course of this country and maybe HE will win the prize.
I hope so, because it will mean that his presidency has accomplished what eight years of Bush insanity have tried to prevent...a real, workable peace initiative for all the nations of the earth.
Nobody can deny the need for this. Only the fanatical religious extremists...both Christian and Muslim...will try to prevent it. Everybody else knows that those lunatics are wrong.
The day George Bush wins a Nobel Peace Prize is the day the title becomes meaningless.
What's wrong the speech or the fake ice shelf?
